Acceptable Use Policy
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") describes what you may and may not do with Living Śāstra (the "Service"). It supplements our Terms of Service. Violating this AUP is a breach of the Terms and may result in suspension or termination of your account.
1. Use the Service for what it is
Living Śāstra is a citation-grounded conversational interface to a curated corpus of classical texts. Use it to study, ask questions of the texts, and verify sources. Do not use it as a substitute for licensed professional advice (medical, legal, financial, mental health, or otherwise).
2. No impersonation roleplay
Do not prompt the agents to speak as if they were a real named teacher, guru, deity, or other identified individual, living or deceased. The Service answers from the texts themselves, not from a persona. Prompts such as "speak as if you were [named person]" are not permitted. This rule protects the integrity of the cited corpus and avoids putting words in the mouths of named individuals.
3. No scraping or automated harvesting
Do not use bots, crawlers, headless browsers, or any automation to extract answers, retrieved passages, or other content from the Service for the purpose of building a competing corpus, training a third-party model, or large-scale re-publication. The rate limits on each tier exist to allow legitimate interactive use; circumventing them via multiple accounts or automation is prohibited.
4. No abuse of the free tier
The free tier exists so anyone can evaluate the Service. Do not create multiple accounts to multiply the free quota, use disposable email services to farm accounts, or share an account across many people. If you need more capacity, the paid tiers exist for that reason.
5. No illegal, harmful, or abusive content
Do not submit Inputs or use Outputs to:
- Harass, threaten, defame, dox, or otherwise harm any person.
- Generate or distribute content that sexually exploits or endangers minors.
- Generate content that incites violence or hatred against a protected group.
- Plan, organise, or carry out illegal activity.
- Bypass, probe, or attack the Service's security, the security of other users, or the systems of our sub-processors.
- Use the Service to make health, medical, dietary, or treatment decisions for yourself or others without consulting a qualified clinician.
6. Respect intellectual property
The classical texts are public domain. The Service's curation, indexing, prompts, and UI are not — see the Terms for the IP framework. Do not strip citations from Outputs and re-publish them as your own original research or scholarship.
7. Security research
If you believe you have found a security vulnerability, please report it to hello@livingshastra.org with the details and a reproducer. We will acknowledge within 72 hours and not pursue legal action against good-faith researchers who give us a reasonable window to fix the issue before public disclosure.
8. Enforcement
We may, at our discretion and proportionate to the breach:
- Issue a warning by email.
- Restrict access to specific features.
- Suspend the account temporarily.
- Terminate the account permanently.
For serious or repeated violations we may skip earlier steps. We do not refund subscription fees for accounts terminated for AUP violations. We may report activity to law enforcement where required by law.
9. Changes to this AUP
The version and date at the top of this page reflect the current version. Material changes will be notified to registered users by email.
